What Is Bail/Bond?
Bond is get-out-of- jail before trial money.
Bond is set by a judge. Bail is the amount of money required.
You have the right to some form of pre-trial release in most cases. There are two ways to get out of jail during the pre-trial period: ONE is Conditional Pre-Trial Release (no money but arduous conditions), TWO is bond (money).
If you miss court, get a new law violation, or violate any conditions of bail (set by the judge), the judge can put you in jail until the trial and you lose the bond money.
