Can a Child Be a Witness?

Yes.

You can ask the judge to speak to the child before the child testifies. The judge’s only concern is whether or not the child knows the difference between truth and a lie and understands the nature of an oath to tell the truth.

It is for the jury to decide how much weight to place upon the testimony of any witness.
